General Information on Voting
Who can vote in Texas?
State law requires you to register 30 days prior to the election in which you want to participate in. To be eligible to register to vote in Texas, a person must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be a resident of the county
- Be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months)
- Not be a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
- Not be declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law
Registration cards can be found in the lobby of Hutchins City Hall, Atwell Public Library, the local post office, and the Dallas County Elections Office.
