Public Information Requests

The public has the right to request access to city records for public inspection or to obtain copies of records already in existence.  Requests for information are required to be in writing, in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act. The City of Hutchins processes requests via an online portal that allows the requester to track the request and download any responsive records, by mail, or email.  Sometimes fees apply. Should the fee be in excess of $40, a cost estimate will be provided. Fees are charged in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code. The mailing address for the City of Hutchins is 321 N. Governmental Body's Responsibilities

The Texas Public Information Act (PDF) does not require a governmental body to create new information, do legal research, or answer questions. The request must ask for records or information already in existence. The governmental body has 10 business days to respond to the request.
