Police Department Divisions

The Patrol Division is the largest and most visible aspect of the Hutchins Police Department. The Patrol Division is responsible for the preliminary investigation of calls for service, preliminary investigation of crimes, warrants, and traffic enforcement. Our Patrol Officers are generally the first contact citizens have with the department. Patrol Officers perform various tasks including neighborhood patrol, traffic enforcement, primary investigations of criminal activity, and various other duties. The Patrol Division is led by Patrol Lieutenant Frank Garcia.

The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating criminal cases, which are usually generated by the patrol division. Those assigned to CID are trained in conducting follow-up investigations and interviews, preservation of evidence and filing cases with the District Attorney's office. The Criminal Investigations Division is led by Lieutenant Lindley.

The Communications Center is staffed around the clock with highly skilled, state licensed professionals. Communications Technicians dispatch police, fire, emergency medical services, Animal Control and Code Enforcement. Additionally, communications staff is responsible for answering both emergency and non-emergency phone lines, maintaining the entry and accuracy of all records, the customer service window at the public safety building, and monitoring the department's holding facility operations.

The Administrative Lieutenant is responsible for support functions of the Operations Division and the Special Services Division. The Administrative Lieutenant, Bennie Puckett, is responsible for Communications, Internal Affairs, General Orders, Personnel hiring, Department forms, and Computer software and hardware. The Administrative Lieutenant operates in conjunction with the Department’s Records Section and will have direct supervision over the Records Manager, including the Alarm Program and CAD record maintenance.
