About the Program

The Congregate Meal Program, also known as the Senior Meal Program, is a daily lunch program that ensures a free and nutritious meal for seniors ages 60 and older. The program is sponsored in part by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, and the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. Lunch is served Monday - Friday beginning at 11:30 a.m. while food supply lasts, or until all eligible participants have received a qualified meal.  Lunch is served in the Community Center Dining Hall, and usually concludes by 12:30 p.m.  A 24–48-hour RSVP (reservation) is strongly encouraged.  

  

To join the program, the applicant must complete an intake form and nutritional assessment prior to participation. Participants must also participate in an annual nutrition education session/presentation to remain in the program. There is no cost for this nutrition education session/presentation.  To inquire about the program or set an appointment to register, please call 972-225-0439.

Fees

The program is available at no cost for eligible seniors ages 60 and better.  It is recommended that daily donation of $1.16 be given, however is not required to receive a meal.  Seniors ages 50-59, who are not eligible participants, may purchase the daily lunch for a fee of $12.32.
