Library Cards

Librarian starting storytime

An Atwell Public Library card is available at no cost to anyone who lives or attends school in an educational institution within the City of Hutchins city limits. Educational institutions include public schools, charter schools, private schools, etc. A library card is also available to City of Hutchins employees.

To receive your library card, visit Atwell Public Library with a government-issued photo identification, which has your current address. If your ID does not show your current address, please bring two forms of identification: one to prove your identity with a photo and one to show your place of residence. Examples include:

  • Driver's license
  • Voter’s registration card (current)
  • Lease agreement (current)
  • Vehicle insurance (current)
  • Passport
  • Checkbook
  • Online bill
  • Current business mail with physical address (within last 30 days). Mail must be typewritten or computer-generated

Atwell Public Library cards are valid for residents, Hutchins’ students, and City of Hutchins employees. If residency changes, employment ends, or student changes to a school outside of Hutchins, the library card privileges expire.

Parents can sign up their children, age 5 years and older to receive a library card. The parent/guardian must present two forms of identification (outlined above) or the child's report card and/or ID (valid for schools within the City of Hutchins only, if not a resident).

Teenagers 14 and up may apply for their own library card with a current school ID (valid for schools within the City of Hutchins only) or government ID.

A TexShare Card provides you with borrowing privileges from more than 500 participating libraries across the state. A TexShare card is available at no cost to Atwell Public Library cardholders, upon request, for patrons 18 years and older who have no outstanding fines or fees.
